Junior Lab Assistant in Malaria Genomics & Molecular Biology

Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of laboratory and research activities including:
- DNA and RNA extraction
- PCR, multiplex PCR and qPCR
- Whole genome and targeted amplicon sequencing
- High-throughput serological assays
- Phage-immunoprecipitation sequencing
- Malaria parasite culture
- Bioinformatics and statistical analysis
- Scientific literature review
- Laboratory troubleshooting
- Data visualization and reporting
- Manuscript preparation
- Grant support
- SOP development
- Laboratory training and mentorship
The position also includes maintaining laboratory databases, sample biobanks, and collaborating with international research partners.
Qualifications & Skills Required
Junior Specialist
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology or related field
- Laboratory experience in molecular biology techniques
- Experience with PCR and Next Generation Sequencing
- Knowledge of scientific literature analysis
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Experience with Python or R for laboratory data analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Assistant Specialist
Applicants should additionally have:
- Master’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology or related discipline
- Minimum three years of relevant research experience
- Experience in NGS library preparation
- Laboratory information management systems
- Scientific publication experience
