The Role

Join the dynamic team as applications are open for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Biochemistry, focusing on the captivating realm of phage defense. This opportunity, backed by a BBSRC grant, is at the forefront of research into Bacteriophage Exclusion (BREX) phage defense. The project encompasses an exciting array of interdisciplinary techniques, including microbiology, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and structural biology.

Embark on a journey to unravel the mysteries of BREX defense, exploring the roles of BREX complexes and small molecule signaling within this cutting-edge phage defense mechanism. In an era witnessing a renaissance in phage biology and with a heightened urgency surrounding antimicrobial resistance, this role offers a unique chance to contribute to groundbreaking research.

This position is not just a job; it’s a three-year adventure, with an anticipated start date in April 2024, contingent upon the successful completion of a one-year probationary period. Collaborate closely with Prof Tim Blower in the Department of Biosciences at Durham University, where innovation meets expertise.
