Postdoctoral Research Opportunity in Structural Virology
The Pavel Plevka Research Group at CEITEC, Masaryk University, is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Structural Virology.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an internationally recognized research group investigating the structures and infection mechanisms of human picornaviruses, flaviviruses, and bacteriophages that infect pathogenic bacteria. The position offers access to world-class cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) facilities and the freedom to pursue innovative research through funding from a prestigious ERC Consolidator Grant.
Contribute to projects aimed at understanding how viruses replicate, assemble, and infect their hosts. The laboratory combines structural biology with virology to reveal the molecular details of viral infection, helping to advance knowledge that may support future antiviral and bacteriophage-based therapeutic strategies.
Qualifications & Skills Required
The ideal candidate will have:
- A PhD (or equivalent) in Virology, Structural Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
- A strong publication record in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
Experience in one or more of the following areas will be an advantage:
- Cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM)
- Cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET)
- X-ray crystallography
- Tissue culture techniques
- Genetic modification of bacteria or bacteriophages
- Programming or computational biology
Applicants should submit:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Motivation Letter
- List of Publications
- Contact information for at least two professional references
