Principal Scientist in Antibody Discovery at Boehringer Ingelheim, USA
Boehringer Ingelheim, Ridgefield, Connecticut, USA, is seeking a Principal Scientist to lead its in vitro antibody discovery team within the Biotherapeutics Discovery organization. This is a senior leadership (lab-head) role responsible for designing and executing innovative antibody discovery strategies using advanced platforms such as phage display, yeast display, high-throughput screening, NGS, and AI/ML-driven approaches.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead a scientific team focused on in vitro antibody discovery Design and construct high-diversity antibody libraries (phage & yeast display)
- Develop innovative workflows integrating: High-throughput screening, Next-generation sequencing (NGS), AI/ML-driven discovery tools
- Drive adoption of emerging technologies such as: Deep-learning-based binder prediction, structure-guided computational modeling, and
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including: Protein engineering, Bioinformatics, Translational sciences
- Contribute to scientific publications, conferences, and external collaborations
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction
Qualifications Required
- PhD in a relevant field + 5+ years of industry experience Expertise in:
- Phage, yeast, or mammalian display technologies
- Molecular biology and antibody library construction
- Efficiency in NGS data analysis
- Preferred experience with AI/ML or computational biology
- Knowledge of tools like Geneious, GeneData Biologics, PipeBio
- Leadership experience (1–3 years) is desirable
- Strong communication and project management skills
