Protein and Vector Engineering Scientist at Phagos
Phagos is seeking a highly skilled Protein and Vector Engineering Scientist to join their Protein and Vector Engineering (PVE) team to work in a collaborative, scientifically rigorous environment that balances mentorship with growing autonomy. This work will directly accelerate the development of genomic medicines, translating computational innovation into therapies that reach patients faster.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will:
- Develop and apply advanced 3D structure prediction methods
- Perform molecular dynamics simulations and free energy calculations
- Drive protein engineering strategies for next-generation therapeutics
- Integrate AI/ML into discovery and apply machine learning approaches to optimize discovery workflows
- Transform structural and genomic data into therapeutic insight
- Accelerate candidate design using predictive modelling
- Build scalable computational pipelines
- Design and deploy robust data pipelines
- Integrate structural, chemical, and genomic datasets
- Convert complex multi-omics data into actionable decisions
- Ensure computational insights align with experimental validation
- Strengthen internal platforms
- Develop and benchmark next-generation modelling tools
- Utilize industry-leading platforms such as: translating complex computational findings into clear strategic insights
Qualifications & Skill Required
- PhD or Master’s degree in structural bioinformatics, computational biology, machine learning, computational chemistry, genomics, with strong hands-on research experience.
- A solid foundation in: molecular modelling, structural biology, computational chemistry, computational drug design (small molecules and/or biologics)
- Confident working with: 3D structure prediction, molecular dynamics simulations
- Perform antibody engineering and design
- Ability to apply AI/ML approaches to drug discovery
- Practical coding experience in: Python, R, Bash
- Comfortable using Git/GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
