Research programs span neuroscience, cardiovascular biology, immunology, infectious diseases, stem cell biology, and genomics.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will work closely with Dr. Sukrit Silas while leading high-throughput molecular biology workflows.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Constructing large bacteriophage gene libraries
  • Developing and optimizing high-throughput phage-host screening platforms
  • High-efficiency bacterial electroporation and transformation
  • Molecular cloning using Gibson Assembly, Golden Gate Assembly, and restriction enzyme cloning
  • PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA/RNA purification, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) sample preparation
  • Whole-genome transposon mutagenesis
  • Experimental design, troubleshooting, and data interpretation
  • Maintaining detailed laboratory documentation using Benchling
  • Managing laboratory inventory, reagents, and compliance with laboratory safety procedures
  • Presenting research findings during laboratory meetings

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to publications in high-impact scientific journals over a two-year period.

Qualifications & Skills Required

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cell and Molecular Biology or a related discipline
  • At least one year of laboratory research experience (preferred)
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within multidisciplinary research teams
  • Strong attention to detail and effective time management

Candidates with experience in the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • Bacterial culture and transformation
  • High-throughput laboratory workflows
  • DNA cloning and construct design
  • PCR and DNA purification
  • DNA library preparation
  • Sanger and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)
  • Protein expression and Western blotting
  • Laboratory inventory management
