Research Fellowship at the University of Minho, to Work on Phages & Anaerobic Bacteria
The Centre of Biological Engineering (CEB) at the University of Minho, Portugal, has announced an exciting 12-month Research Fellowship under the Horizon Europe–funded project MicroBEEome. This opportunity is ideal for candidates eager to build hands-on expertise in phage research, anaerobic microbiology, and biotechnology within a leading European research environment.
The MicroBEEome project (Reference: EUPAHW/0002/2025) is funded by Horizon Europe through the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT I.P.). The project focuses on advancing microbial and phage-based strategies with strong relevance to health and biotechnology.
The selected fellow will work on the isolation and characterization of phages targeting anaerobic bacteria, contributing to cutting-edge research with growing relevance in microbiome science and antimicrobial innovation.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Biological Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biology, or related fields
- Eligibility under FCT Research Grant Regulations (Regulation No. 950/2019)
- Experience in laboratory planning and execution
- Hands-on experience in phage isolation
- Familiarity with bacterial culture and manipulation, especially anaerobes
