The Royal Veterinary College is hiring a Technician to support an exciting RVC-Industry collaboration focused on developing phage-bead technology for the detection of mycobacteria. Mycobacteria rapidly and accurately. The project will optimize and validate an existing system by assessing: Range of detectable pathogens, Limit of detection, Sensitivity, Specificity, commercial readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process clinical samples
  • Perform phage-based diagnostic assays
  • Conduct molecular biology assays
  • Apply microbiology and aseptic techniques
  • Analyze and present scientific data
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges
  • Adapt and optimize experimental protocols
  • Communicate findings to academic and industry collaborators
  • Support stock control and lab administration
  • Maintain health & safety standards
  • Participate in meetings, training, and lab activities

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Suitable backgrounds include:Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology
  • Experience in aiagnostic Sciences, bacteriophage Research
  • Experience in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences and veterinary Microbiology
  • Basic microbiology lab skills including aseptic techniques, molecular assays (PCR etc.)
  • Clinical sample handling
  • Data analysis
  • Scientific reporting
