The group\u2019s work aims to enable:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Genetic isolation of organisms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mechanistic investigation of host\u2013pathogen interactions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Large-scale vector assembly toward gigabase-scale genome synthesis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This research sits at the interface of engineering biology, synthetic genomics, and host\u2013microbe interactions, with applications spanning fundamental biology and translational biotechnology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Job Summary<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Generative Biology Institute is seeking enthusiastic and motivated <a href=\"https:\/\/thephage.xyz\/jobs\/?s=research+assistance\/jobs\/?s=research+assistance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Research Assistants \">Research Assistants <\/a>to support ongoing research across its laboratories. This position is well-suited for individuals looking to apply their academic training in a hands-on, research-intensive environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a Research Assistant, you will contribute to one or more GBI research groups, supporting experimental workflows, data generation and analysis, and the day-to-day operation of a modern, well-resourced laboratory. You will work closely with scientists across the institute and contribute to scientific reports, presentations, and other research outputs in a highly collaborative setting dedicated to advancing engineering biology at scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Responsibilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support experimental laboratory work aligned with the selected research group(s)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist with data collection, processing, and analysis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contribute to the development, optimisation, and maintenance of laboratory methods and capabilities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help prepare scientific reports, presentations, and documentation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with researchers across GBI in a multidisciplinary research environment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Applying to Research Groups<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This Research Assistant position is advertised jointly with similar roles across multiple GBI research groups, each with a distinct research focus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applicants must apply to specific research groups as part of their application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You may select up to three (3) research groups on the application form<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In your cover letter, clearly state:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The group(s) you are applying to<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your interest in each group<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Relevant skills and experience aligned with each research theme<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#x26a0;&#xfe0f; Applications that do not specify research group preferences or that select more than three groups will not be considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Process<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All applications must be submitted exclusively through the Ellison Institute of Technology job portal.
