The Malopolska Centre of Biotechnology at Jagiellonian University, a leading European academic research hub known for interdisciplinary life science innovation and advanced biotechnology research, is recruiting an Assistant Professor to join an NCN SONATA BIS-funded project investigating bacteriophage host-range evolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Role<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The successful candidate will contribute to research exploring interactions between Klebsiella pneumoniae<\/em> and bacteriophages using genomic epidemiology and experimental microbiology approaches. The position focuses on understanding bacterial\u2013phage co-evolution through genomics, phylogenetics, and computational biology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Responsibilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Conduct independent and collaborative research in microbial genomics and phage evolution
\u2022 Perform large-scale genomic and metagenomic data analysis
\u2022 Develop computational tools and reproducible workflows
\u2022 Present findings at scientific meetings and publish in peer-reviewed journals
\u2022 Support project development and mentor research team members
\u2022 Collaborate with international partner laboratories<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qualifications & Skills Required<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, evolutionary biology, or related quantitative discipline
\u2022 Experience analysing biological datasets using computational or bioinformatic approaches
\u2022 Programming proficiency in Python, R, Bash, or similar languages
\u2022 Familiarity with version control systems such as GitHub
\u2022 Interest or experience in phage biology, microbial genomics, or host\u2013microbe interactions
\u2022 Strong scientific publication or presentation record preferred
\u2022 Excellent English communication skills<\/p>\n\n\n\n
