This role focuses on airway inflammation, respiratory pathogens, mucosal immunity, and bacteriophage-based therapies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The selected candidate will investigate how chronic and repeated airway inflammation alters immune responses to respiratory pathogens. The research has direct relevance to diseases such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cystic Fibrosis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chronic respiratory infections<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Airway inflammatory disorders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The role also includes evaluating emerging bacteriophage-based therapies in inflamed airway environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Design and conduct independent research experiments <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Study airway inflammation and host-pathogen interactions <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work with primary human airway epithelial cultures <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use murine in vivo models <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Analyze molecular, cellular, and omics datasets <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain accurate electronic lab notebooks <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare manuscripts, figures, and tables <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contribute to grant writing <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Present findings at conferences and seminars <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Qualifications &amp; Skills Required<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree in: Immunology, Microbiology &amp; Cell Biology, Related biomedical sciences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience in research design and scientific data analysis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with sterile laboratory techniques <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Airway epithelial models (ALI cultures) <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with immune cell biology, respiratory infection models<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with flow cytometry, RNA-seq analysis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience in advanced imaging methods, bacteriology and virology methods.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more phage-related <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Kansas Medical Center is hiring a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Zamora Lab within Internal Medicine.
