{"id":9386,"date":"2026-08-22T13:39:32","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T13:39:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thephage.xyz\/jobs\/?post_type=job&#038;p=9386"},"modified":"2026-08-22T13:39:41","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T13:39:41","slug":"inserm-chair-bioconvergence-for-health-in-ai-to-embedded-synthetic-biology","status":"publish","type":"job","link":"https:\/\/thephage.xyz\/jobs\/jobs\/inserm-chair-bioconvergence-for-health-in-ai-to-embedded-synthetic-biology\/","title":{"rendered":"INSERM Chair: Bioconvergence for Health in AI to Embedded Synthetic Biology"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm) is inviting applications for an INSERM Chair in Bioconvergence for Health: AI-Embedded Synthetic Biology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The successful candidate will join the Systems Engineering and Evolution Dynamics (U1338) \/ ELiS Lab, hosted in collaboration with Sorbonne Universit\u00e9, and will contribute to the development of the Paris Biofoundry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The appointment is initially offered as a 4-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of tenure in the Inserm Research Directors personnel at the end of the contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chair will establish a new research group focused on the convergence of automated synthetic biology and computational biology to generate fundamental discoveries and develop new medical and therapeutic applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Potential research areas include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Phage, bacterial and yeast engineering<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Synthetic biology and systems biology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Artificial intelligence and deep learning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Computational biology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Antibiotic resistance and antimicrobial discovery<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drug discovery and biosensing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Metabolic engineering and biosynthesis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Biofoundry technologies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Synthetic phages and engineered biological systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Machine-learning-driven biological design<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The successful candidate is expected to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Establish and lead an independent research group.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop an internationally competitive research program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supervise PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and technical staff.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Secure competitive research funding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop national and international collaborations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contribute to interdisciplinary research within the ELiS Lab and Paris Biofoundry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contribute, where appropriate, to teaching in Synthetic Biology and Computational Biology at Sorbonne Universit\u00e9.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Produce high-quality scientific publications and research outputs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in scientific editorial and peer-review activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support open science and FAIR data-management principles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Qualifications &amp;
