The Virology Laboratory is conducting a pilot study: “Investigating Reproductive Tract Infections (RTIs) and Associated Factors Among Ever-Married Women and Girls of Forcefully Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN)”. The study focuses on: understanding RTI prevalence, identifying risk factors and behaviours and assessing awareness in vulnerable communities.

The ICDDR, B is seeking a qualified study nurse to report to the Project Research Physician and will be responsible for counselling patients, attendants, and visitors; collecting data and specimens under the project of Investigating Reproductive Tract Infections (RTIs) and Associated Factors Among Ever-Married Women and Girls of Forcefully Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN).

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect cervical swab samples and manage specimens at field sites
  • Conduct patient counselling and education
  • Perform structured interviews and collect data via digital tools
  • Conduct bacterial vaginosis testing (Nugent scoring)
  • Coordinate with physicians and investigators for research activities
  • Maintain communication with Community Health Workers
  • Supervise health worker activities in the field
  • Ensure accurate data recording and documentation
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ethical standards

Qualifications Required

  • Diploma or BSc in Nursing Science & Midwifery, Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
  • Valid registration with Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council (BNMC)
  • Experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH)
  • research Work experience with FDMN/Rohingya communities
  • Proficiency in Rohingya language
