Must-have:

  • A PhD degree or equivalent in virology, structural biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or related field
  • Expertise in cryo-EM, cryo-ET, or X-ray crystallography is an advantage but not a requirement
  • Experience with tissue culture work or genetic modification of bacteria and phages is a strong plus, as well as programming skills
  • A publication record in peer-reviewed journals

The research projects focus on determining particle structures and infection mechanisms of human picornaviruses and flaviviruses, as well as bacteriophages infecting pathogenic bacteria. The Plevka Lab has access to cutting-edge cryo-EM equipment at our in-house core facility.
